MIESCOR Infrastructure Development Corp. (MIDC) and PhilTower Consortium, Inc. have finalized a joint venture aimed at enhancing telecom infrastructure and accelerating the deployment of wireless technology in the Philippines. This partnership seeks to strengthen the country’s telecommunications tower infrastructure and expedite the rollout of mobile broadband services.
The collaboration between MIDC and PhilTower will support mobile network operators such as Globe Telecom, Smart Communications, and DITO Telecommunity by expanding network coverage and improving service efficiency. The new entity, formed by MIDC’s existing partners MIESCOR, Stonepeak, Macquarie Capital, and Global Network, Inc., seeks to establish a benchmark for telecom infrastructure in the Philippines.
MIDC, a joint venture between MIESCOR and Stonepeak established in 2022, plays a role in providing turnkey and semi-turnkey build and maintenance services for telecom operators. These services include the construction and maintenance of telecom tower sites, as well as the development of both wireline and wireless systems.
By combining the strengths of both MIDC and PhilTower, the venture aims to play a critical role in advancing the country’s digital transformation, fostering digital inclusion, and supporting socio-economic development, particularly in underserved areas. This move aligns with the nation’s broader goal of achieving nationwide connectivity and empowering more Filipinos through improved ICT services.
