Japanese Energy company, Kyushu Electric Power Group (Kyuden Group) announced that it will participate in a Microgrid Project on the islands of Palawan and Cebu in the Philippines. The Kyuden Group has formed a strategic partnership with PowerSource Group, a Philippine operator qualified by the Philippine Energy Regulatory Commission, that supplies electricity to off-grid communities. Currently, PowerSource Group provides electricity generated by diesel to seven sites on the islands Palawan and Cebu, and the company is planning to implement solar-storage in existing sites, and to develop new sites in the future.
The partnership between Kyuden Group and PowerSource Group signifies the need for technologies and expertise by the Philippines to be to supply electricity to remote areas in the country.
By participating in this project, Kyuden Group contributes to the supply of Environmental-friendly Energy and to the expansion of PowerSource’s microgrid business, by implementing renewable Energy sources and providing technical support, such as Operation and Maintenance improvement of PowerSource’s power plants.
