Indonesian Conglomerate Lippo Bets on Telehealth for Growth

Jan 2021

Indonesian Conglomerate Lippo Group has announced its plans for an overhaul of its mHealth service as a key engine of growth for 2021. Lippo Group is the owner of Siloam International Hospitals, the largest chain of private-sector general hospitals in the country, in terms of number of hospital beds. Siloam has 39 hospitals in Indonesia and more than 3,000 doctors on duty.

Currently, its mobile app is only reserved for scheduling patients for appointments with doctors. In 2021, the conglomerate aims to offer additional services such as online examinations, digital medical charts and online prescription filling. This new app is targeted at people with zero to mild symptoms.

Siloam also looks to tap into the expertise of Marubeni, the Japanese trading house that has a 5% of stake in the hospital chain. Recently, Marubeni undertook distance training of doctors in Japan and Russia.
