Malaysia’s leading property developer I-Bhd is planning to expand its data center park, i-City Golden Triangle (i-City), in Shah Alam, Selangor state. i-City is one of Malaysia’s largest data center space providers in a single location and currently houses a 70,000-square foot world-class tier-III purpose-built ready data center.
In June 2021, I-Bhd had received approval to set up two more data centers on a six-acre (2.43-hectare) plot of freehold land, each with 100,000 square feet of space. The company is seeking to work with international leading cloud service providers for the building and management of hyper-scale data centers and suppliers of cloud services. Malaysia has been gaining popularity as a preferred location for the proliferation of data centers and cloud services, surpassing the growth of countries such as China, Indonesia, and India, in the sector.
As a Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC)-certified integrated ultrapolis, i-City will deploy 5G technology to ensure wide connectivity and accelerate the development of future technologies. The park is utilizing Huawei-powered 400G-capable network connectivity, which would solidify its status as a smart city and next-level ICT-based urban development.
