Malaysian telecommunications, media and technology solutions provider, Green Packet Bhd has collaborated with Five Petroleum Malaysia Sdn Bhd (FIVE) to launch the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-powered petrol stations.
The partnership will utilize Green Packet’s technological innovations such as an online process of verifying customers’ identity (e-KYC), e-wallet, payment gateway, and license plate recognition to enable a cashless digital experience across all FIVE petrol stations. FIVE will also be co-developing a new mobile application via its Kiple brand to facilitate cashless payments.
The system can automatically identify the driver’s pre-filled information by scanning the user’s license plate upon entering the petrol station. Following identification, the user will receive a push notification on their mobile phone for quick payment approval. It will also make the refueling process more efficient. In addition, all rewards and loyalty features will also be integrated into the Five application.
Five Petroleum is operated by Seng Group, which has been in the petrol retail business in Malaysia for nearly five decades and opened its first fuel station in Selangor state in March 2020. The retailer also plans to open more than 200 stations nationwide.
