DOE Approves Grid Impact Study on Five Energy Projects

Oct 2020

The Department of Energy (DOE) has approved grid impact studies on five energy projects in the country, with a total capacity of 1,417.84 MW. The grid impact studies are necessary for determining if the electricity generated by the power projects can be absorbed by the grid.

The companies responsible for the five projects are Sunwest Water and Electric Co., Raslag Corp, and Excellent Energy Resources Inc.

  • Sunwest Water and Electric Co have three of the five approved energy projects. These are the 50-MW Daraga Ancillary Reserve Diesel Power Plant, the 100-MW Kiwalo Diesel Power Plant, and the Namantao Diesel Power Plant.
  • Raslag Corp’s energy project approved by the DOE is the 17.8-MW solar farm project in Mabalacat and Magalang, Pampanga.
  • The energy project of Excellent Energy Resources Inc. is the 1,200-MW Ilijan Natural Gas-fired plant project in Batangas City.

To date, there are a total of 81 approved energy projects by the DOE with a total capacity of 13,935.4 MW.
