Momentive Performance Materials, a global leader in high-performance silicones and specialty solutions, has announced a new growth investment – a manufacturing facility in Rayong, Thailand. This new site will increase Momentive’s manufacturing capacity and allow it to serve the growing Southeast Asian market for specialty silicones in various industries including automotive, energy, healthcare, agriculture, and beauty and personal care. It will also be Momentive’s second manufacturing site in Thailand.
The company’s President and General Manager noted that expanding production in Rayong is a crucial aspect of Momentive’s in-region-for-region strategy to offer a more flexible and reliable supply capacity to customers in the region. Furthermore, the new facility is designed to meet the latest production process safety standards.
The new facility comes equipped with full automation, art process controls, and a new clean room, providing Momentive with new capabilities in liquid silicone rubber production. The company has also commissioned new release coating production capabilities in Rayong. Momentive’s silicone-based release coatings are applied to paper or film to produce liners that help protect the adhesive on tapes and labels before application.
