American 3D Geospatial Specialist Expands to Indonesia with Solutions for Decreasing Crop Loss

May 2023

Intermap Technologies, a global pioneer in 3D geospatial products and intelligence solutions from Colorado, has announced a deal to offer 3D digital elevation models (DEMs) to a prominent agricultural firm in Indonesia to decrease crop loss. The agriculture industry employs one-third of Indonesia’s labor force, accounting for around 14% of the nation’s GDP. With one of the world’s greatest agricultural outputs, the sector is critical to Indonesia’s growth and development.

The 3D elevation models provided by the firm gives information on plantation terrain and topography, while accompanying imagery includes up-to-date information about crop growth and land use changes. Integrating these two technologies, agricultural enterprises may produce a complete picture of plantings and adjacent ecosystems.

The customer of Intermap is using the company’s precise data for monitoring and site evaluation across vast regions of Sumatra and Borneo. Intermap’s novel datasets offer clients essential information to properly manage their plantations, resulting in higher yields. Elevation data is an important tool for agriculture organizations since it helps them decide when to water and fertilize, resulting in less crop loss due to pests and diseases.

Leveraging its unique data and analytics, Intermap is collaborating with key agribusiness entities throughout Southeast Asia. These expanding commercial uses and the associated positive economic, employment, and climatic benefits highlight the need for national governments to update and maintain best-in-class geospatial infrastructure. These contract awards, according to Intermap, will result in considerable future growth in the region.
