The Thai government has just approved plans for Thailand’s first international air show, which will be held in 2027 at the U-Tapao International Airport in Rayong, located in the strategic location known as Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) .
The event, which will promote the country as an ASEAN aviation hub and as a world-class manufacturer and exporter of aircraft parts, is being organized by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), and has been approved by the EEC development administration subcommittee. It will showcase Thailand’s aerospace industry and advanced tech sectors to the world market.
A series of EEC events will be held in the run up to the air show from 2023 as part of the Aviation & LOG-IN Week project, which is a combination of shows, conferences, and mega events to increase the opportunity to participate and to the industry. The TCEB expects the events and show to boost Thailand’s economy by THB 8.2 billion (USD 25 million). According to the Board of Investment, in 2018 Thailand exported 3,180 aircraft parts and equipment, worth nearly THB 100 billion (USD 3 billion).
