Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), a Malaysian government agency responsible for promoting healthcare travel industry has partnered with Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) a global health non-profit organization to strengthen the country’s healthcare ecosystem through digital transformation.
According to MHTC CEO Mohd Daud Mohd Arif, the collaboration primarily aims at improving local technological and digital capabilities and looking into new ways to promote the Malaysia Healthcare brand. As part of the partnership, HIMSS will work with top hospitals in Malaysia to complete their certification for Stage 7 of the HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM). MHTC will then recommend the HIMSS EMRAM, which measures a facility’s EMR maturity, to all of its 73 member hospitals.
In accordance with the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Industry Plan 2021–2025, the collaboration also seeks to boost Malaysia’s healthcare travel sector. It covers four subjects: knowledge exchange and capacity building, strategic thought leadership, utilizing the regional and international network of HIMSS, and creating new channels for industry cooperation.
