L’Oréal and Watsons have partnered to launch the first green joint business plan in the Philippines’ beauty and wellness sectors. This initiative addresses the pressing issue of plastic waste while promoting sustainable business practices. The collaboration aims to raise environmental awareness, provide livelihood opportunities, and encourage sustainable consumption.
Key elements of the plan include the “Recycle for Rewards” program, where consumers can exchange empty beauty and wellness bottles for discounts at Watsons stores, and the Sustainable Choices category, featuring products made from recycled materials or refillable packaging. For example, Garnier’s Micellar Water now comes in 100% post-consumer recycled plastic containers.
Additionally, the Digital Beauty Academy equips individuals with skills in beauty, wellness, and social commerce, while the Alagang Pangkalusugan program supports medical and wellness initiatives in vulnerable communities across the Philippines.
This partnership reinforces both companies’ commitments to sustainability, with L’Oréal working towards using 100% recycled or bio-sourced plastic in its packaging by 2030.
