Accor Vietnam and IHG Hotels & Resorts, two leading hotel companies, have put forward plans to double the number of hotels in Vietnam that meet international standards over the next five years.
According to the Vice President of Operations of Accor Vietnam, 41 more hotels and resorts will join the Accor Vietnam portfolio by 2028. Since the fourth quarter of 2022, the demand for the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector has continuously increased. Operating since 1992 in Vietnam, Accor currently has 40 hotels and resorts under a variety of brands, including Sofitel, MGallery, Pullman, Novotel, Mövenpick, Mercure, and Ibis.
IHG Hotels & Resorts, another key player, currently owns 15 hotels and resorts in Vietnam under brands such as InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn. According to the Managing Director of IHG in Southeast Asia, Vietnam is a crucial market for the company, which is making long-term investments. By 2028, the group plans to add 22 new hotels and resorts to its network in Vietnam, bringing the total number of member properties to 37. IHG has worked closely with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, local trade associations, and Vietnam Airlines to ensure the restoration of the number of flights to pre-pandemic levels, and toward promoting tourism recovery.
