Indonesian PT Indika Energy Tbk. and India’s solar developer, Fourth Partner Energy, have formed a joint venture called PT Empat Mitra Indika Tenaga Surya (EMITS) to provide a renewable energy solutions platform for Indonesia’s commercial and industrial solar sectors. For Indika Energy, EMITS will contribute to the company’s commitment to increase the non-coal portion of its revenue by 50% by 2025.
Currently, green energy sources represent 11.51% of Indonesia’s total energy consumption. This is below the goal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of 13%. It is estimated that as much as USD 36.95 billion in green energy investments will be required to achieve the target of 23% green energy usage by 2025.
Moreover, an Abu Dhabi-based renewable company, Masdar, is developing the first floating solar project in Indonesia. The 145 MW floating solar plant will feature 350,000 modules and is managed by PT PJB Masdar Solar Energi, a joint venture company between Masdar and PLN subsidiary, Pembangkitan Jawa Bali.
