The Indonesian Ministry of Public Housing, in collaboration with the Korean Ministry of Environment, has launched a pilot project to upgrade the Flores Island water management system.
Located in southeastern Indonesia, Flores Island is relatively underdeveloped and is made up of small islands, making it difficult to manage water resources. The water and sewerage project calls for replacing old water and sewage systems and introducing a real-time remote management system.
This is part of South Korea’s New Southern and New Northern International Development Cooperation Project. This is a Korean-style smart water management technology cooperation project to help developing countries acquire stable water resources in preparation for climate change, and strengthen disaster response capabilities such as floods. Involved parties include the Korean Ministry of Industry, Korea Water Resources Corporation and the United Nations.
