In April, enterprise automation platform company Workato announced the launch of Singapore’s first Digital Automation Hub to help enterprises use automation to transform their businesses. The hub is part of the company’s plan to invest over USD 200 million in the region over the next 3 years, and will serve as the company’s second global headquarters after the USA. It will also grow its headcount by 5 times over the next 3 years, of which 45% is expected to be technical roles such as engineering and data analytics, while the remaining 55 will be non-technical roles such as human resources and marketing.
The hub, besides housing the company’s physical working space, will also host a Centre of Excellence for Automation to showcase the business value that automation can bring to enterprises. It is expected to provide a shared environment where business leaders, automation experts, and enthusiasts can meet, learn, and consult, and can also be used for conducting training courses and certification programs. Businesses are also expected to be able to engage in consultations with Workato’s in-house automation experts.
At the same time, Workato also entered into agreements with three local institutes of higher learning to build up Singapore’s talent pipeline. Under the agreements, it will work with Singapore Polytechnic, the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and Ngee Ann Polytechnic to develop modules and courses as well as provide training and industry engagement opportunities for students.
