Coca-Cola Philippines recently announced that it will transition its key brands Coca-Cola Original Taste and Wilkins Pure to 100% recycled PET plastic packaging (excluding caps and labels) by 2023. The new formats will contribute expand the company’s array of products in recycled plastic packaging in the Southeast Asian country.
In 2022, Coca-Cola Philippines opened its bottle-to-bottle recycling facility in General Trias, Cavite. In the same year, it also partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in creating skills training programs to build the capacities of individuals and small businesses in the waste sector.
These initiatives are in line with the company’s World Without Waste sustainable packaging program to make 100% of its packaging recyclable by 2025. After the program’s launch in 2018, the company was the first to launch in the Philippines a 100% recycled PET plastic for its Viva! bottles in 2019, which was then followed by the shift of its Sprite 500ml to the same packaging in the same year. Coca-Cola Philippines was thus the first in the country to launch 100% recycled PET plastic for bottles.
