Alibaba Group’s digital technology and intelligence arm, Alibaba Cloud has announced plans to collaborate with more Malaysian companies across a range of sectors to adopt Energy Expert, an AI-driven sustainability solution. Alibaba’s Energy Expert solution is designed to help businesses to monitor, analyze and reduce carbon emission.
Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Vice President, William Xiong, stated that the company anticipates a growing demand from the local companies to integrate sustainability into their business operations, taking into account Malaysia’s objective of attaining its net zero agenda by 2050. The International Renewable Energy Agency has recently forecasted that Malaysia will need to double its renewable energy transition investments to at least USD 375 billion to meet its net-zero emissions goals.
At present, many Malaysian companies are utilizing Alibaba Cloud’s Energy Experts to boost carbon reduction and achieve carbon neutrality as part of their sustainability journey. This comprises UEM Edgenta, a provider of Asset Management and Infrastructure Solutions, Hond Tat Industries Sdn Bhd, a local producer of materials, as well as the ICT solution providers and integrators, Mesiniaga and VSTECS Berhad.
