DUYTAN Plastic Recycling Co. Ltd., the first plastics recycler in Vietnam to produce recycled PET for beverage bottle production, is set to install its third Starlinger PET bottle-to-bottle recycling line. The new line is planned to begin production by the end of 2023. The company aims to establish a closed loop for plastic bottles, reducing plastic waste and the use of fossil resources in Vietnam.
DUYTAN Plastic Recycling decided to work with Vienna-based engineering company Starlinger, a leading manufacturer of PET bottle-to-bottle recycling machines, highlighting Austria’s expertise in the circular economy. The new high-end PET bottle-to-bottle recycling line, recoSTAR PET 330 HC iV+, will be installed at DUYTAN’s facility in Long An Province. With the new line, DUYTAN Plastic Recycling’s reprocessing capacity will increase to 60,000 tons per year, equivalent to about 4 billion post-consumer plastic bottles.
Currently, the company operates two Starlinger PET recycling lines with a yearly production capacity of 30,000 tons. The recycled PET pellets fulfill the standards of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and can be used for high-quality PET bottle preform production. DUYTAN Plastic Recycling has created a plastic waste collection network with over 100 collection points across Vietnam to ensure a continuous supply of input material. In 2022, the facility recycled over 1.3 billion domestically collected plastic bottles and exported 4,200 tons of rPET to Europe and the US.
DUYTAN Plastic Recycling focuses on sustainability and applies a “Three Zero” criteria in its production process: zero waste, zero emissions, and zero wastewater. The company supplies recycled resins to packaging producers in Vietnam, neighboring countries, and other overseas customers.
