UVCell Solar and Iozela Data Center have announced a strategic collaboration to develop two significant projects in Malaysia, focusing on sustainability and renewable energy. The first project will establish a state-of-the-art data center complex in Penang, designed with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. This facility will include comprehensive amenities such as a management office, staff accommodation, and a green plantation farm, all aimed at enhancing the project’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impact. The data center will not only advance Malaysia’s digital infrastructure but also serve as a model for low-carbon technology.
In Pahang, UVCell Solar plans to create a renewable energy hub that will feature solar and biomass farms capable of generating between 300 to 500 MW of clean power. This energy will supply the Penang data center and surrounding infrastructure, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and cutting carbon emissions. The integration of solar and biomass technologies will diversify Malaysia’s energy portfolio and bolster energy security.
The collaboration will involve international partners from countries like Japan, China, the United States, and Singapore to ensure high standards in innovation and expertise. While leveraging global collaboration, the majority of the workforce for these projects will be sourced locally, focusing on training skilled professionals from Penang and Pahang. This initiative is expected to create significant job opportunities while enhancing Malaysia’s position as a hub for green technology innovation in Southeast Asia.
