American eMobility specialist EVLOMO is collaborating with French multinational company Schneider Electric to install 100 electric vehicle (EV) fast chargers in Thailand by the end of 2023. Specifically, EVLOMO and Schneider will install Thailand’s first direct current (DC) chargers, which will shorten charging times for EVs to 10-15 minutes. The first DC charger will be available at the Bangchak petrol station on Srinakarin Road in Bangkok. The remaining 99 DC chargers will be distributed throughout the country, including Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Khon Kaen
According to EVLOMO’s CEO, Thailand’s EV industry and ecosystem are expected to grow significantly thanks to the government’s support and demand from local consumers. The company has also purchased land to open its own standalone charging stations in Thailand. It aims to launch around 10 EVLOMO charging stations in the second quarter of 2024. Each will be equipped with 30 DC chargers along with additional facilities such as stores and restaurants.
In addition, EVLOMO and Schneider have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop an EV battery facility in Thailand. The 1-gigawatt factory will begin operating in the second half of 2024. The factory will mostly produce batteries for electric motorcycles and other two-wheelers. Three-fifths of its batteries will be sold domestically, while the remaining will be exported to neighboring markets such as Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, and India.
