Singapore-based solar manufacturer EliTe Solar has officially launched a high-efficiency solar cell production facility in Indonesia, marking a significant expansion into the country’s burgeoning solar energy market. The project, which began with site selection in May 2024, reached completion in just eight months, with the facility becoming fully operational by December 2024.
EliTe Solar highlighted Indonesia’s substantial solar potential as a key factor in its decision to establish the new facility. The company worked closely with local government authorities and partners to expedite the project, aiming to contribute to job creation, economic growth, and knowledge sharing within the region.
The new facility is expected to cater to the growing demand for solar cells in Indonesia, where the solar potential is estimated to exceed 3 GW. However, EliTe Solar has not disclosed details about the specific technology or the facility’s production capacity.
In addition to its operations in Indonesia and Singapore, EliTe Solar has manufacturing centers in Vietnam and Cambodia. The company is also developing a production facility in Egypt, slated for completion in 2025, with an anticipated 2 GW cell production line.
Globally, EliTe Solar has delivered 10 GW of solar modules, with its Cambodian and Vietnamese production lines reaching capacities of 2 GW and 3 GW, respectively, in recent years.
