SGTech Launches TechConnect Asia to Boost Global-Tech Ties

May 2025

SGTech, Singapore’s leading technology trade association, launched TechConnect Asia, an initiative designed to bridge global technology firms with Singapore’s dynamic tech ecosystem, in April 2025. Announced during SGTech’s “Tech Transforms Life” Gala, the program aims to facilitate the entry of international tech companies into Singapore, providing them with support and partnerships to thrive in the local market. Simultaneously, it offers local businesses, particularly SMEs, opportunities to collaborate with these global entities, enhancing their capabilities through knowledge sharing and joint ventures.

TechConnect Asia is set to onboard 12 foreign partners in its first year, including notable firms such as Huawei International and Alibaba Cloud. The initiative provides a platform for participating companies to pitch their solutions to potential partners and investors, supported by a network of mentors and industry leaders. This approach aligns with SGTech’s commitment to fostering innovation through cross-sector and cross-border collaboration, reinforcing Singapore’s position as a global tech hub.

Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, who officiated the launch, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in driving innovation and economic growth. He highlighted the need for collaboration across sectors and borders to navigate the rapidly evolving technological landscape. The gala also featured the SGTech Impact Awards, recognizing organizations that have significantly advanced sustainability, talent development, and digital transformation in their operations.

Through TechConnect Asia, SGTech aims to create a vibrant platform that not only attracts global tech leaders to Singapore but also empowers local businesses to expand their reach and capabilities. By fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation, the initiative seeks to enhance Singapore’s status as a leading digital economy in the region.
