Saskatchewan Government Establishes New Agri-Food Partnerships in Indonesia

Nov 2025

The Government of Saskatchewan has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia) to strengthen cooperation in agri-food processing, value-added agriculture, and agricultural technologies, while promoting economic partnerships and fostering innovation and technology collaboration in the agri-food sector.

Diversifying Saskatchewan’s export markets is now more critical than ever, said Saskatchewan’s Trade and Export Development Minister. He expressed optimism about the growing relationship with Indonesia and voiced pride in signing the Letter of Intent on behalf of the province. In 2024, Saskatchewan’s exports to Asia exceeded USD 10 billion, with exports to Indonesia totalling USD 868.9 million. Key export commodities included potash, non-durum wheat, and wood pulp.

The signing of the LOI took place during the Minister’s mission to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, which aimed to strengthen trade ties in the agriculture, mining, and energy sectors and to diversify Saskatchewan’s export markets.

Saskatchewan is a reliable supplier of agri-food products to global markets, with a strong supply chain that contributes to worldwide food security. Asia remains a key market, where the province has established five trade and investment offices. Despite ongoing market risks such as tariffs and regulatory trade barriers, Saskatchewan continues to pursue new opportunities that support its businesses, workers, and families.
