The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japanese sustainability tech firm Zeroboard Inc. to support decarbonization efforts across its ecozones. The partnership will enable PEZA-registered export enterprises to track, visualize, and reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions using Zeroboard’s cloud-based platform, which aligns with international sustainability frameworks such as CDP, SBTi, and ISSB.
The collaboration includes initiatives such as developing green transformation (GX) training programs, creating a green ecozone certification system, and selecting pilot ecozones for decarbonization. Zeroboard’s platform, currently used by over 13,000 companies worldwide, will help PEZA establish a strong foundation for achieving its emissions reduction targets—aligned with the Philippines’ goal to cut GHG emissions by 75% by 2030.
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga highlighted that the initiative supports the transformation of ecozones into smart, green developments and strengthens the Philippines’ position as a competitive, sustainable investment destination.
