Pegatron, a global technology leader, has officially opened its new smart manufacturing facility in Batam, Indonesia. The factory integrates advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and 5G connectivity, representing a significant milestone in Pegatron’s global digital transformation efforts.
To support this transformation, Pegatron has partnered with Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest digital telecommunications provider and first 5G operator. Telkomsel’s enterprise unit provides a Standalone (SA) 5G Private Network, delivering secure, high-speed connectivity throughout the production facility. The partnership also includes the provision of 1,200 SIM cards to enable the Internet of Things (IoT) devices for real-time monitoring of machinery and production processes. Additionally, Telkomsel is enhancing its public network to improve workforce mobility and overall operational efficiency.
The factory’s 5G Private Network facilitates the seamless integration of thousands of sensors and machines, enhancing automation, enabling data-driven decision-making, and optimizing costs, quality, and maintenance processes.
Indonesia’s manufacturing sector is experiencing robust growth in 2024, marked by increased output and new orders. With a projected GDP growth of 5.2% in 2025 and favorable investment conditions, the country continues to attract interest from global investors.
