The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board, chaired by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., approved several significant projects aimed at modernizing government systems and improving infrastructure. Among the initiatives is the Philippine Civil Service Modernization (PCSM) Project, led by the Civil Service Commission. This project aims to digitalize and streamline human resource processes across the public sector to enhance the efficiency of nearly two million government employees. The system will improve coordination, payroll accuracy, and recruitment processes. Initially, 39 pilot agencies will implement the system in 2025, with plans to expand to 1,187 agencies over the next decade.
The NEDA Board also extended the deadline for submitting comparative proposals for the upgrade and expansion of Laguindingan International Airport. The project aims to improve airport operations and is expected to be awarded by the end of 2024, depending on the outcome of the competitive bidding process.
In addition, the Board approved an increase of USD 43.3 million in funding for the Metro Manila Priority Bridges Seismic Improvement Project, which will enhance earthquake resilience in the National Capital Region by upgrading key bridges. This increase brings the total project cost to USD 187.18 million and extends the project’s timeline to 2028.
