The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has launched the IP360 Metaverse Platform, a groundbreaking initiative in digital innovation and cultural preservation. Developed in partnership with Ammobox Studios Sdn Bhd, this platform aims to redefine how global audiences experience Malaysia’s rich heritage and creative prowess. Currently, in its minimum viable product (MVP) stage, the IP360 Metaverse Platform offers an interactive gateway into Malaysia’s 3D digital experiences, accessible via any web browser without the need for high-performance hardware.
The platform features two immersive experiences: a Virtual Theme Park and a Digital Museum. The Virtual Theme Park offers interactive experiences featuring popular Malaysian intellectual properties like Ejen Ali and Didi and Friends, with engaging games and skill-building activities. The Digital Museum explores Malaysia’s cultural legacy through artifact interactions, treasure hunt games, local language lessons, and holographic traditional dance performances.
The IP360 Metaverse Platform is the result of strategic collaborations with leading organizations, including Tourism Malaysia, ASWARA, Istana Budaya, and prominent Malaysian IP brands. MDEC CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil emphasized that this launch aligns with Malaysia’s national agenda to strengthen its creative digital industries and leverage immersive technologies to create jobs and drive economic growth. By 2030, Malaysia aims to be recognized as a hub for high-quality, innovative digital content production.
To support this initiative, MDEC has provided funding to 38 companies and IP creators through its Metaverse Onboarding and Immersive IP Experiences Program, offering up to MYR 200,000 (USD 45,167) per project to encourage the exploration of metaverse opportunities. The launch of the IP360 Metaverse Platform represents a significant step towards Malaysia’s goal of becoming a leader in digital innovation and cultural preservation.
