Nature-themed entertainment and retail complex Jewel Changi Airport saw record-breaking foot traffic and sales in 2024, driven by a steady recovery in air travel. The retail and lifestyle hub recorded over 80 million visitors from January to December, marking a 10% increase in footfall and a 5% rise in sales compared to 2023.
Retail sales per square foot grew by 6% year-on-year, reflecting strong consumer spending. International visitors accounted for more than 35% of total footfall, with the highest numbers coming from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia, and the Philippines. Tourist arrivals from China and Taiwan more than doubled compared to the previous year, signaling a robust return of overseas travelers.
Jewel Changi Airport currently hosts over 260 retail and dining establishments, with 30 new brands introduced in 2024 and another 30 set to open in 2025. The mix includes international luxury retailers, popular dining chains, and experiential stores aimed at enhancing the shopping experience.
The growth in visitors and tenant expansion highlights Jewel’s resilience despite global economic uncertainties. The airport retail complex continues to focus on attracting new brands and enhancing customer experiences to sustain its momentum. With strong partnerships and an evolving retail mix, Jewel Changi Airport aims to remain a key shopping and leisure destination for both local and international travelers.
