Indonesia’s Renewable Energy Firm and Singaporean LNG Company Partner to Produce Bio-LNG from Palm Oil Waste

Nov 2025

Pertamina, through its renewable energy subsidiary Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), has partnered with Singapore LNG Corporation to develop Bio-LNG from palm oil waste. The agreement was formalized last October during the 50th ASCOPE Council Meeting in Bangkok, between Pertamina NRE President Director and the CEO of Singapore LNG. The President Director emphasized that the collaboration underscores Pertamina Group’s commitment to advancing bioenergy, combining Indonesia’s abundant feedstock potential with Singapore’s robust energy market.

Under the agreement, Pertamina NRE will first carry out a technical study to convert Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) into biogas and Bio-LNG, followed by the construction of a processing plant in Indonesia to supply the product to Singapore LNG. The company expects the project to boost revenue, support international clean energy initiatives, and offer global marketing experience through its partnership with Singapore LNG.

Pertamina NRE’s move into Singapore reflects Pertamina’s broader strategy to enhance its green energy expertise and implement similar initiatives within Indonesia. The company affirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission 2060 target and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.
