Singapore-based solar manufacturer Gstar has officially launched its new manufacturing facility in Subic Bay, Philippines, along with its first high-efficiency n-type solar module. The plant, now operational, has an initial production capacity of 1 GW for solar modules and 1.5 GW for solar cells. Mass production is set to begin on May 18, 2025.
The newly unveiled 595W bifacial dual-glass module uses 183.75 mm n-type cells and features advanced technologies such as laser non-destructive scribing, SMBB, and high-density encapsulation. Designed for industrial and utility-scale use, the module offers 23.03% conversion efficiency, high bifaciality, and enhanced low-light performance.
A planned second phase of the Subic Bay facility will double the module production capacity to 2 GW. This expansion reinforces Gstar’s growing regional footprint, complementing its 3 GW silicon wafer factory in Indonesia and a 2 GW module project in the UAE. The Philippines factory is expected to play a key role in Gstar’s global strategy to meet rising solar demand in Southeast Asia and beyond.
