US-based pop culture collectibles company Funko, Inc. is set to open its first licensed retail store in Southeast Asia, selecting the Philippines as its launchpad in the region. The store, which will be operated by local partner Funtastik Enterprises Corp, is expected to open in June 2025 at the SM Mall of Asia, one of the largest malls in the country.
The expansion reflects Funko’s strategy to deepen its international presence by establishing physical retail outlets in markets with high levels of fan engagement. The Philippines, with its strong community of pop culture enthusiasts and vibrant comic convention scene, has emerged as one of Funko’s strongest-performing markets in Asia. The company cited the country’s active collector base, e-commerce growth, and fan-led events as key factors behind the decision.
The upcoming store will feature a wide range of Funko products, including Pop! collectibles, Loungefly bags, Bitty Pop! miniatures, and Manila-exclusive apparel. It will also offer exclusive product releases and interactive in-store experiences to cater to local fan communities.
This move builds on Funko’s experience operating licensed stores in other regions such as the Middle East, and aligns with its broader goal of boosting direct-to-consumer engagement and retail brand presence across Asia.
