Known as the Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI), the Indonesian Military has selected American company EOTECH’s Holographic Weapon Sight (HWS) and magnifier for use by the TNI(s) Special Forces unit, Komando Pasukan Khusus, also referred to as Kopassus.
Kopassus is the Indonesian Army’s (TNI-AD’s) special forces group that conducts special operations missions for the Indonesian government, such as direct action, unconventional warfare, sabotage, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering and special reconnaissance.
According to EOTECH, HWS delivers an “instantaneous, razor-sharp view” of both reticle and target – unlike conventional red dot sights. It added that this arrangement enables the shooter to focus on both the target and the reticle at the same time without shifting back and forth from near to far distances. A wide rectangular window also heightens peripheral vision.
EOTECH is represented in Indonesia by Trident3 Adaptive Technologies Group SDN BHD, a Malaysian-based procurement management specialist. The Indonesian Army Special Forces unit can expect delivery of the EOTECH optics within the coming months.
