Converge ICT Solutions has announced that the 20,000-kilometer Bifrost Cable System is now ready to carry data traffic to and from the Philippines, marking the country’s first direct transpacific subsea connection to the United States. The multi-billion-peso investment, which includes a USD 100 million commitment from Converge, positions the company as the exclusive Philippine landing partner for the system’s Davao branch.
The Bifrost system, backed by Meta, Amazon, Telin, and Keppel, delivers up to 15 Tbps of intra-Asia Pacific capacity and brings a total of 260 Tbps of additional regional bandwidth. Designed to support AI and high-capacity digital services, the cable cuts data travel time between Singapore and the US to just under 165 milliseconds, improving latency and resiliency across Asia Pacific.
With the Davao landing station now operational, Converge expects to expand its international bandwidth and supply wholesale capacity to other ISPs, telcos, and government agencies. The project strengthens the Philippines’ position as a multi-gateway digital hub and enhances network redundancy to support rising data demand.
Bifrost will go fully live in the coming weeks, joining Converge’s broader subsea portfolio, including the Southeast Asia–Hainan–Hong Kong Express Cable System.
