Collins Aerospace and Indonesian state-owned aerospace company PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) have signed a deal to modify eleven C-130 military transport aircraft for the Indonesian Air Force as part of its Phase 2 rollout strategy. Collins will supply its Flight2TM aftermarket avionics solution to PTDI as a contractor, delivering the most cost-effective and low-risk CNS/ATM upgrade option.
Flight2 converts an analog federation system into a modern digital glass cockpit. It provides advanced capabilities, including required navigation performance, area navigation flight management system with high altitude release point, and computed air release point precision airdrop software through its advanced displays and integrated military/civil flight management system.
Collins will use its Flight2 Mobility Mission Application (MMA) architecture as part of the upgrade, which allows customers to choose from a superset of off-the-shelf capabilities. Customers can adapt the MMA architecture to fulfill particular mission needs, comply with regional communications navigation surveillance/air traffic management standards, or simply maximize capabilities for a given budget. The Indonesian Air Force’s C-130H will align with International Civil Aviation Organization requirements by upgrading to Flight2 while also gaining a tactical edge in military operations.
