Philippine blockchain education technology platform Bitskwela has partnered with Sonic Labs to enhance the understanding and practical application of blockchain in universities across the Philippines. Recognizing a growing national interest in blockchain, Bitskwela aims to address the knowledge gap among students regarding its practical uses. To facilitate this, they launched the Blockchain Student Alliance, supported by Sonic Labs, which focuses on equipping students with essential skills through an educational initiative called Sonic University.
The collaboration has already reached over 500 students through workshops conducted by Bitskwela CEO Jiro Reyes and BSA leader Andrea Pilapil at various institutions, including Mapua University and the University of Southeastern Philippines. One of the challenges highlighted by Pilapil is the difficulty in teaching non-technical students about blockchain’s broader applications, such as in supply chains and healthcare. The program aims to integrate blockchain education into university curricula and expand opportunities for students to engage with industry leaders.
Sonic Labs is a decentralized application platform that recently launched its Sonic mainnet, an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain designed to provide developers with attractive incentives and robust infrastructure. The platform boasts capabilities, including 10,000 transactions per second (TPS) and sub-second finality, making it suitable for decentralized applications (dApps). Sonic Labs emphasizes developer rewards through its innovative Fee Monetization model, which allows developers to earn a significant portion of network fees generated by their applications. This partnership with Bitskwela not only fosters educational growth but also positions Sonic Labs as a key player in enhancing blockchain literacy among future innovators in the Philippines.
