From 13 to 17 February 2023, Orissa International hosted senior representatives of the West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) during their visit to Malaysia and Singapore.
The visit was part of WMGC’s effort to engage local investors looking to expand to the UK. Orissa International facilitated approximately 23 meetings between WMGC and local business owners keen to understand the region’s opportunities in greater detail. Orissa International also organized three investment seminars across the two countries to provide information on the growth opportunities in the West Midlands and the UK, as well as promote the Global Growth Programme (GGP) for local investors.
In Malaysia, the seminars were conducted in collaboration with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), attracting over 100 registrations from companies in technology, digital and creative, automation, low carbon, energy, mobility and logistics sectors as well as manufacturers in automotive, food and beverages and materials. Notably, Richard Colley, Country Director and Nadzirah Ali, Inward Investment Manager from the British High Commission in Malaysia, took part in delivering the welcome remarks and a presentation.
In Singapore, the investment seminar was held in presence of Natalie Black CBE, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Asia Pacific, who gave the opening address sharing her thoughts and personal experiences with the region. We also had Aga Manhao, CEO of Primacy Technology Pte Ltd, share his insights with business owners on his experience setting up in the UK through the Global Growth Programme (GGP) and Global Entrepreneur Programme (GEP) tracks. Around 30 participants attended the event, which ended with an interactive discussion and networking session.
