Swiss MSC Group Explores Logistics and Port Investment Opportunities in Indonesia

Mar 2026

Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming and the Investment Coordinating Board held discussions with Swiss shipping and logistics company MSC Group to explore potential expansion of investment and cooperation in logistics services and port terminal infrastructure.

The meeting was led by the Deputy Minister for Investment Promotion at the ministry and attended by an MSC Group delegation headed by Oliver Straub, the company’s Group Director of Government Affairs. Representatives from the Swiss Embassy in Indonesia were also present. The discussions took place on Tuesday at the ministry’s offices in Jakarta.

According to the ministry, the talks focused on identifying areas where MSC Group could expand its presence in Indonesia, particularly in logistics networks and port terminal facilities. The discussions were linked to the government’s broader efforts to strengthen maritime infrastructure and improve supply chain connectivity across the country.

MSC Group has operated in Indonesia since 1996 and is considered one of the largest companies in the global shipping and logistics sector. The government stated that the company’s continued presence and potential new investment could support Indonesia’s efforts to enhance national logistics capabilities and strengthen its position as a maritime hub in Southeast Asia.

The ministry said it welcomes MSC Group’s interest in expanding operations and expressed readiness to facilitate further discussions to support investment in the logistics and port sectors as trade volumes and supply chain diversification continue to grow.
