The Global Wellness Institute has released new data on Thailand’s wellness economy and renewed its partnership with BDMS Wellness Clinic for a fourth consecutive year. The collaboration supports ongoing research on Thailand’s position within the global wellness market, valued at USD 6.8 trillion.
Thailand’s wellness market expanded from USD 38.8 billion in 2023 to USD 42.7 billion in 2024, reflecting growth of 10.1%. According to the Global Wellness Economy Country Ranking Report, Thailand ranked seventh among the top 25 countries for wellness market growth between 2023 and 2024. The country remained the 24th largest wellness economy globally and ranked ninth in the Asia Pacific region.
Wellness tourism showed significant expansion. Spending in this segment increased 36.4% from 2023 to 2024, reaching USD 14 billion. Thailand ranked 15th worldwide in wellness tourism. Other sectors with notable growth included wellness real estate, which expanded by 22.9% annually, and the spa industry, which grew by 18%. Spending at destination spas and hotel or resort spas rose by more than 20% during the year.
Thailand’s wellness sector includes tourism, preventive healthcare, fitness, traditional therapies, and medical services. The country is recognized for integrating cultural practices, healthcare services, and hospitality offerings within its wellness economy.
Phuket is scheduled to host the 20th Global Wellness Summit from November 10 to 13, 2026. The Global Wellness Institute is a nonprofit research organization focused on data and education related to the wellness industry.
