The governments of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Indonesia held the soft opening of the UAE–Indonesia Cardiology Hospital in Surakarta in September 2025. The facility is set to be officially inaugurated by the heads of state from both nations at a later date. The Indonesian Deputy Minister of Health noted that the hospital would deliver advanced yet affordable cardiac care, easing the burden on families who once had to travel long distances for treatment. The initiative is also expected to enhance Indonesia’s long-term capacity in cardiovascular health.
Built through a grant worth nearly USD 25 million, the hospital features 130 beds and state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic, and cardiac care technologies. Following its soft opening, the facility is now ready to admit emergency patients and will progressively broaden its range of services, with an unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and sustainability. The hospital stands as a concrete testament to the UAE–Indonesia partnership in advancing development and public welfare, embodying a shared belief that access to world-class healthcare should be available to all.
The hospital is part of a broader grant initiative from the United Arab Emirates, implemented across Java, which also includes the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Surakarta. The program further allocates USD 10 million to support Indonesia’s tuberculosis (TB) prevention efforts, USD 15 million for development projects in Surakarta and its surrounding areas, and funds the establishment of the College of Future Studies at Nahdlatul Ulama University of Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed University of Humanities.
