Telkom Indonesia Forms Partnership with Sembcorp to Develop Data Centers Across Southeast Asia

Sep 2025

Indonesia’s state-owned telecom giant PT Telkom, through its data center arm NeutraDC, has partnered with Singapore’s Sembcorp Development Ltd. to build sustainable data centers in Southeast Asia. The tie-up will start with facilities in Indonesia and Singapore, following the signing of an MoU at the NeutraDC Summit 2025 in Nusa Dua, Bali, last August.

The partnership leverages NeutraDC’s regional network of 32 data centers alongside Sembcorp’s capabilities in renewable energy and sustainable urban development. According to NeutraDC’s Chief Executive Officer, the collaboration is expected to reinforce SIJORI, encompassing Singapore, Johor in Malaysia, and Indonesia’s Riau Islands, including Batam, as a premier digital hub in Southeast Asia. He further emphasized that by integrating green energy solutions with robust regional connectivity, NeutraDC aims to deliver low-carbon data centers that can compete at a global level.

Meanwhile, Sembcorp’s Chief Operating Officer for Integrated Urban Solutions conveyed confidence that the partnership will pave the way for a new generation of low-carbon data centers. He noted that the collaboration is expected not only to accelerate digital transformation across the region but also to support the broader shift toward sustainable energy.

NeutraDC currently operates with a total capacity of 80 megawatts (MW) and has outlined plans for significant expansion. Among its key initiatives is the Hyperscale Data Center (HDC) in Cikarang, which is designed to provide up to 120 MW across three data center buildings and an office tower, with construction scheduled to commence next year. In parallel, NeutraDC is also developing a data center campus in Batam, beginning with the 20 MW Campus-1 facility, which is expected to become operational in the coming year.
