Vietnam to Launch Nationwide AI Training Program for 15,000 Healthcare Professionals

Aug 2025

Vietnam plans to train around 15,000 healthcare professionals in artificial intelligence (AI) over the next two years, according to the Ministry of Health. The initiative aims to accelerate the digital transformation of the country’s healthcare system and strengthen the application of advanced technologies in clinical care, administration, and research.

The program was officially launched on July 18, 2025 at Hanoi Medical University during the opening ceremony of the project “AI Opportunities for Healthcare Workers.” Associate Professor Dr. Luong Mai Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology, and Training, noted that AI is central for breakthroughs in science, technology, and national digital transformation.

AI is increasingly used in healthcare worldwide to support diagnostics, optimize treatment, and personalize patient care. In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health sees AI as a key tool in building intelligent healthcare management systems, developing early disease-warning solutions, and enhancing diagnostic and treatment capacity.

The project targets managers, doctors, pharmacists, lecturers, and healthcare administrators, offering training tailored to each group. The curriculum, developed with input from globally certified trainers at Google, covers five modules, including AI-assisted efficiency, effective prompt creation, ethical use of AI, and adapting to technological change in healthcare.

Beyond technical skills, the program seeks to foster a culture of innovation, encouraging healthcare professionals to integrate AI into daily practice to improve productivity, reduce errors, and enhance the quality of patient services. The initiative also aligns with broader government strategies on digital literacy for all citizens.
