MKS Instruments, a U.S.-based provider of enabling technologies, has announced the groundbreaking of a new chemical manufacturing and technology center at the Asia Industrial Estate Suvarnabhumi, located east of Bangkok. The investment, valued at over USD 40 million, is part of MKS’s strategy to expand its presence in Southeast Asia and support the region’s printed circuit board (PCB) and semiconductor industries. Operations are expected to begin in the second half of 2027.
The new facility will occupy 11.7 acres and cover approximately 27,000 square meters. It is situated 30 minutes from Bangkok International Airport. The site will include manufacturing space for surface treatment and plating chemicals used in electronics and automotive industries. It will also house a TechCenter with advanced plating and laser equipment, as well as laboratories for analytics, quality control, and material science. These facilities aim to assist customers with ramp-ups and maintain consistent product standards.
MKS CEO John T. C. Lee said the investment reinforces the company’s commitment to serving Southeast Asia’s growing demand in electronics and advanced packaging. He emphasized the importance of localized production and services to support industrial growth in the region.
The site will also provide maintenance services, spare parts, and support for industrial software and IIoT applications. The facility’s annual production capacity is projected at 18,500 tons.
This expansion highlights Thailand’s rising importance in the global electronics supply chain and reflects MKS’s long-term commitment to innovation and regional development.
