Milliken & Company, a global leader in specialty chemicals and advanced materials, officially inaugurated its first chemical manufacturing facility in Asia in April 2025, choosing Singapore as its strategic base. This milestone marks a significant expansion of Milliken’s global footprint and indicates the company’s long-term commitment to the Asian market. The new state-of-the-art plant is equipped with advanced manufacturing capabilities and will serve as a center of excellence for Milliken’s cutting-edge microencapsulation technology, following its acquisition of Encapsys in 2021.
The facility is designed to meet the growing demand for advanced material solutions across Asia, particularly in fast-growing sectors such as consumer goods, healthcare, and electronics. By integrating Encapsys’ pioneering microencapsulation expertise, Milliken aims to deliver enhanced product offerings, greater flexibility, and faster response times to evolving customer needs in the region. The plant’s advanced manufacturing processes will enable the production of innovative materials that improve product stability, controlled release, and performance for a wide range of applications.
Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB) played a key role in facilitating this investment, highlighting the city-state’s position as a strategic hub for specialty chemicals in Asia. The EDB emphasized that Milliken’s decision to establish its first Asian chemical plant in Singapore reflects strong confidence in the country’s infrastructure, workforce, and connectivity. The new facility is expected to bolster Singapore’s chemicals ecosystem and support the increasing requirements of industries such as consumer goods and healthcare.
