Yemen-headquartered Thabet Group, through its subsidiary Pan Asian Dairies Sdn Bhd, has selected Malaysia as a regional distribution hub for its dairy products. Its production plant is located in Seremban with a capacity of 200,000 liters per day and will be completed in December this year. The plant is Thabet Group’s first outside Yemen.
Gameel Thabet, director of Thabet Group said the company will launch dairy products that are different from their existing products in Yemen in order to cater to the local consumers’ tastes and preferences. Gameel added that the company plans to expand the plant’s capacity within three years to produce other non-dairy products similar to its plant in Yemen such as juices and processed food. Pan Asian Dairies would start its first production for the Malaysian market by early 2020 and will begin to export later in the same year.
Gameel stated that Malaysia was chosen due to its strategic location, reputation for halal products, competent workforce, as well as a business-friendly Environment. The company also aims to support Malaysia’s goal to reach self-sufficiency in dairy production by 2024.
