In January 2020, two Singaporean solar companies namely Cleantech Solar and Blueleaf Energy signed long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) with Ambu Sdn Bhd and Robert Bosch (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd respectively, to provide solar Energy in Penang state, Malaysia.
Cleantech Solar has partnered with Ambu Sdn Bhd to install a 923 kWp solar PV system in the latter’s Manufacturing and research and development buildings in Bayan Lepas, Penang. The company is working with Solarvest Holdings Berhad to install the system, which is expected to be fully operational by mid-2020. The project, which is expected to generate over 23,700 MWh of clean Energy, will be fully financed, designed, owned and operated by Cleantech Solar throughout the long-term PPA.
Blueleaf Energy has signed a 20-year power PPA to supply clean solar Energy for Robert Bosch’s production and warehouse facility in Penang. Blueleaf Energy will own, design and construct the 3MWp solar power facility, while Greencells Energy Asia Pacific, part of the German Greencells Group, will implement the project as the EPC contractor. The system is expected to be ready for clean Energy production in the second quarter of this year. The system will produce approximately 4,500 MWh of clean Energy per year.
