Total to Develop Solar Rooftops for Thai Food Company Betagro

Mar 2020

Total, through its affiliate Total Solar Distributed Generation, has signed a binding contract to provide 25 MWp of solar rooftops for 24 facilities of one of the largest food companies in Thailand, Betagro. Reported on March 6, 2020, the contract comes along with a 20-year long power purchase agreement (PPA), which is one of the largest portfolios of corporate PPAs in Thailand to date.

These solar projects will utilize more than 62,000 solar panels, helping Betagro to shrink its carbon footprint by 26,000 tons of carbon dioxide over the life of the solar rooftops, while providing about 15% of the company’s total power consumption.

“With this project in Thailand, Total Solar Distributed Generation continues to grow its reach in the dynamic solar market in Southeast Asia where renewables will represent 30% of power generation sources by 2040,” said Julien Pouget, Senior Vice President, Renewables at Total. The company’s current objective is to deploy 25 GW of installed power generation capacity from renewable sources by 2025.
