MOU to Boost Indonesia and Switzerland Investments Cooperation

Apr 2022

Switzerland, the 10th largest foreign investor in Indonesia in 2021, with an investment value of USD 599.8 million via 281 projects, has signed a three-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Indonesia in order to improve the investment environment.

The MOU was signed in March 2022 between the Swiss-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (SwissCham Indonesia) and the Investment Ministry or the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). This will encourage discussions related to investment policies, foreign direct investment (FDI), innovation and knowledge transfer between the two nations.

Switzerland mainly invests in projects related to food and beverage, chemical and pharmaceutical, forestry, and fisheries in Indonesia, and SwissCham Indonesia has been actively connecting Swiss companies’ investment in the country in the past four years. Currently, 150 Swiss companies are operating in Indonesia, which has led to the creation of 50,000 jobs in the country.

SwissCham plans to continue its contribution to facilitating the ease of doing business in Indonesia and to attract investments from Swiss companies to Indonesia and vice versa.
